The Brazilian star has not played a competitive game since the World Cup final, after damaging his cruciate knee ligament in pre-season.
He is now ready to make up for some lost time and confirmed he is looking at winning a first team place.
"I think it was a proper game," said Juninho after the reserve clash, which attracted a crowd of 19,454.
"I feel good, the game was fast and there was lots of movement.
"I have been training with the first team for two weeks and feel good.
"If the manager chooses me, I will be able to be in the squad for the next game."
"I have no words to express my feelings about last night.
"It's difficult to explain my relationship with the Middlesbrough supporters. It's been wonderful since my first time here.
"That's why I made the decision to come back to the club and that's why I have the ambition to win something for Middlesbrough to remember for the rest of my life."
Juninho scored the fifth goal and played 70 minutes in the game, which also saw the return of Ugo Ehiogu.
Boro had a strong line-up with a wealth of internationals on show including Massimo Maccarone, Szilard Nemeth and Doriva, who chalked up six goals between them - although the Italian grabbed four of them.
Youngsters David Murphy and Stewart Downing completed the rout for the Teessiders.
