Everton are still not certain of sixth place and they never looked like overcoming Fulham on this trip to the capital.
The Toffees will be left rueing their own mistakes as two own goals gifted The Cottagers both their goals.
The first came after 33 minutes when Alan Stubbs deflected the ball past Richard Wright and into the net.
The second just before half time, killed the game off.
The ever-dangerous Steed Malbranque crossed in from the right, but instead of taking the ball, somehow Wright let it slip through his grasp and could not prevent it from crossing the line.
Everton did their best to come into the game and Kevin Campbell was guilty of more than one missed chance in the second half, but Fulham defended well and deserved to take all three points.
