The defender made a positive impression during his loan stint on Merseyside, but doubts were raised over whether a permanent transfer would be pushed through.
A fee of £3.5 million had been reached between the two clubs, but a wrangle between Marseille and Yobo over a severance payment plunged the deal into doubt.
However, Yobo and his management team thrashed out a compensation package with l`OM and this allowed the talented World Cup star to sign a deal which ties him to The Toffees until the summer of 2007.
Yobo caught Everton boss David Moyes`s eye during last summer`s World Cup finals and the Scot wasted no time in bringing him to The Premiership.
The 23-year-old started his Everton career in positive fashion, but a series of niggling injuries hindered his progress, and he will hope to repay Moyes for his faith by marshalling the Goodison Park defence in the seasons to come.
