Toffees sweet on Penneteau

EVERTON and Rennes are set to battle it out for Bastia goalkeeper Nicolas Penneteau.

The 22-year-old custodian has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after an impressive season for Bastia.

Everton are reported to have made an offer for Penneteau as they look to bolster their squad for next season.

Penneteau is stalling on a move to Goodison Park as he is unlikely to be number one at the club with Richard Wright first choice keeper under David Moyes.

Rennes are also in the race for Penneteau's signature as they see him as an ideal replacement for much sought-after Czech Republic international Petr Cech.

Ceh has been linked with a possible switch to a number of clubs and Rennes are looking at replacements in case he leaves in the summer.
