The former Arsenal keeper damaged his shoulder in June after falling from his loft, an accident that had looked set to rule the England international out of the season openers.
Moyes confirmed the shot-stopper has been taking part in training, but has yet to undertake goalkeeping exercises in preparation for the new campaign.
"It will be touch and go," said Moyes. "It is a worry. I don't know whether he will be alright for the start of the season because it was a really serious injury.
"Richard has done all the running in pre-season, but it is just the actual goalkeeping part that he has not managed yet."
Should Wright, who started 34 league matches last term, fail to recover, then Paul Gerrard will likely deputise.
