25-year old Wright suffered the problem in a freak domestic accident at the beginning of the summer.
Now the custodian is set to make his first appearance of the close season in Everton's friendly with Welsh League side Total Network Solutions on Friday night.
"It's now been eight weeks since Richard sustained his injury and we're delighted that the specialist has given him the okay to play," explained Everton physio Mick Rathbone to the club's website.
"Richard has been working hard this pre-season on his fitness, but we've had to keep a careful eye on him while he's been doing the goalkeeping work."
Everton chief David Moyes will also be delighted with the news that Wayne Rooney is recovering well from the ankle injury sustained in the friendly match with Rangers and has an outside chance of making the season's opening game against Arsenal.
"Wayne's been given the go-ahead by the specialist to do some light jogging and he's just run a couple of miles," added Rathbone.
"He felt absolutely no reaction to his injury and if he continues to feel okay, we'll step up the intensity of his training at the weekend."
