The young stopper has impressed since joining on a month's loan from Everton in January and King wants to retain his services.
O'Hanlon has made four appearances for The Robins and has caught the eye as the club chase promotion from the Second Division.
King is hoping a deal can be thrashed out with Everton regarding a permanent switch for the 21-year-old, who has not made the breakthrough at Goodison Park.
But King fears that if the Swindon board do not act swiftly, O'Hanlon could be prised from his grasp.
"I've already talked about what he can do for us," said King.
"I just hope the directors do something before anybody spots him."
Swindon have set the wheels in motion to secure O'Hanlon's signature, with the defender amenable to the prospect of a permanent move to The County Ground.
