Nottingham Forest boss Joe Kinnear has confirmed Leon Osman is one of his top targets but West Ham manager Alan Pardew wants to keep Marlon Harewood.
Kinnear has pinpointed two key signings to bolster his City Ground squad, although there could be additional new faces at the club in time for the start of the 2004/2005 season.
"Leon Osman is one of a number of players I have enquired about and I am awaiting an answer from Everton," Kinnear told Forest's official website.
Derby County, where the midfielder spent a successful loan spell last term, are also keen on the player and have confirmed they have been assured by Toffees boss David Moyes that they will be informed if he becomes available.
However, former Forest striker Harewood, also believed to be a target for Kinnear, is still wanted at Upton Park.
"Marlon has already said himself that he is very happy at West Ham," Pardew told The Hammers' official website. "And has no wish to leave.
"I am delighted about that because I can assure our supporters that Marlon is very much part of my plans for the new season."
