Moyes still hopeful

David Moyes hopes Everton do not regret the chances they missed on Saturday.

Everton manager David Moyes hopes The Toffees do not regret the chances they missed against Birmingham City on Saturday.

The Toffees are fighting valiantly to claim fourth place and a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League and the point on Saturday took them further clear of Liverpool who were beaten at Crystal Palace.

It could have been a three-point haul for Everton had either James Beattie or Tony Hibbert taken gilt-edged chances in the 1-1 draw.

Moyes was pleased with the efforts of his side and is hopeful they will not regret their missed chances.

"I would hope that he (Beattie) would score the chance," said Moyes. "It was a great opportunity and we needed it just at that period, but it was his first time back.

"He's not had much football this year so, hopefully, when we need those goals, he'll come up with the goods.

"I'm delighted that we got a point from it, because it looked like we might not.

"Maybe in the last minute we could have won it through Tony Hibbert. It's amazing how football changes.

"But it's been a good week for us. We're pleased with our points total and we know that we've got some big games to come."
