Kroldrup injury worry

Per Kroldrup's Everton career could meet with an early setback due to a groin injury.

Per Kroldrup's Everton career could meet with an early setback due to a groin injury.

The Denmark international is carrying a groin problem which manager David Moyes concedes could require surgery.

Kroldrup joined Everton over the summer in a £5 million deal from Udinese and is waiting for his Toffees debut.

He was on the substitutes' bench for Tuesday's 2-1 UEFA Champions League defeat to Udinese and will be in the squad for Saturday's Premiership opener against Manchester United.

But, while he may not be sent for an operation immediately, Kroldrup could eventually need surgery, according to Moyes.

"Per Kroldrup has got a bit of a groin strain that may in time need surgery," Moyes told the club's official website.

"We are not sure but we have got a squad now and not everybody can be selected.

"I can only select 11 and you have to pick what you think is right at the time."

Kroldrup's groin complaint could see the centre half withdraw from Denmark's squad for next week's friendly against England in Copenhagen.
