Everton defender Joseph Yobo has signed a new four-year contract with the club.
Everton defender Joseph Yobo has signed a new four-year contract with the Premiership club.
The Nigeria international, who had stated his desire to remain with The Toffees earlier this month, has put pen-to-paper on a deal that keeps him at Goodison Park until 2010.
The 25-year-old, who originally joined the Merseyside club from Marseille in July 2002, was pleased to pledge his future to David Moyes's side.
"I have waited a long time for this to be sorted out," Yobo told evertonTV.
"There was no doubt of me being happy, I wanted to stay - but I wanted a commitment from the club.
"At the end of the season, I spoke with the manager and he told me the ambitions of the club and that was the first step.
"Then I accepted that I wanted to stay."
Yobo is expected to miss Sunday's pre-season friendly with Old Firm giants Celtic at Parkhead with an Achilles injury, but should be available for the club's two-match trip to the United States.
