David Moyes has challenged Victor Anichebe to contribute more to the team.
Everton boss David Moyes has challenged two-goal hero Victor Anichebe to contribute more to the team.
The teenage forward was the toast of Goodison Park as his two goals helped Everton claim a 3-0 win over Newcastle, but his manager opted to fire a warning to the youngster.
"He had a b*****king at half-time as he had not played well enough in the first half," Moyes told Sky Sports News. "He scored a goal, but it wasn't enough.
"If you play in the first team whether you are 18 or 38, you have to do the jobs and do them well."
Anichebe added a second after the break, a goal which drew praise from Moyes.
"He showed the manager up at half-time by scoring a second and so well done Victor."
Moyes was pleased to see his side pick up the victory following the Boxing Day draw with Middlesbrough.
"It was a good result for us, the players have done very well against an improving Newcastle team," he added.
"We knew it was going to be hard and we got the goals at the right time, they missed a penalty at a crucial time and Tim Howard made a fantastic save at 1-0.
"But I can't take anything away from our players, we scored three and could have maybe scored another couple.
"It was a terrific football game, both teams had a go and tried to win it and on the day it was Everton."
