Johnson given goals target

Andrew Johnson has been given a 15-goal target for the season by Everton.

Andrew Johnson has been given a 15-goal target for the season by Everton.

Johnson bagged his 10th goal this season against Blackburn on Saturday in a successful return from an ankle injury.

Manager David Moyes has taken his men away ahead of next Wednesday's game against Tottenham, which will hopefully give Johnson time to regain full fitness.

"I have been surprised he has been able to play so soon after that injury," said Moyes.

"Now over the next week or so he can finally get himself fully fit."

A fully fit Johnson has been Everton's main attacking presence this season, and veteran defender Alan Stubbs believes the former Crystal Palace man will be the club's main goalscorer for years to come.

"He looks like he is going to be a comfortable 15 goals-a-season man," said Stubbs.

"But 15 has to be the minimum figure he is aiming for. I am sure he is capable of doing that and we have struggled for someone to score 20 goals a season.

"We need someone to do that regularly and hopefully Andy will be the man.

"Strikers are judged on goals and Andy should be happy with the way things are going for him. We are playing well and he is doing the business.

"He is getting better - he is a great finisher."
