Moyes pleased for Johnson

David Moyes praised Andy Johnson's contribution in Everton's 3-0 win over Watford.

David Moyes praised Andy Johnson's contribution in Everton's 3-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Scottish tactician has revealed the England hit-man has barely trained for The Toffees over recent weeks.

Johnson caused The Hornets numerous problems in the game including winning and dispatching Everton's second from the penalty spot.

"I think we're still due about seven or eight penalties for the ones we've not had, so it's what he does," Moyes told PremPlus.

"Everyone is hoping he'll do it for England in the upcoming match. I would (select him for England) because I think he frightens defenders to death as you saw in the first half today.

"He's not trained in the last two weeks. I think he's got a week or two's training and once he gets that he'll get the goals between now and the end of the season."

Moyes has hinted if loan star Manuel Fernandes continued to impress then he may well become a permanent fixture at the club.

"We're always hoping to keep decent players and Manuel is doing very well. So let's hope he continues that way and we'll look at things at the end of the season," he concluded.
