Everton manager David Moyes has hailed Joleon Lescott as one of the Premier League's top defenders.
Lescott has made 62 league starts since his £5million move from Championship side Wolves in 2006, steadily improving during his time at Goodison Park.
The 25-year-old centre-back has been particularly impressive this season, earning the first of his four England caps last October.
And Moyes has praised the rise of Lescott after he put in yet another solid performance in the 2-0 triumph over Manchester City on Monday evening.
"If anything Joleon has grown in stature. This is a boy who came from Wolves and hadn't played in the Premier League," Moyes said.
"You should be applauding him for coming out of the lower leagues and into the England team.
"He is a good player - one of the top defenders in the Premier League."
Moyes went on to heap further plaudits on Lescott after he headed in The Toffees' second against City to take his goal tally to eight for the current campaign.
"It is incredible really but good centre halves score 10 goals a season in my book," Moyes continued.
"They come up from free-kicks and set pieces like Joleon and he is coming close to reaching that tally."
