Midfielder hoping to play on for six more years

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill is convinced that his injury problems are now a thing of the past. The Australian has been plagued by metatarsal trouble over the past 12 months but underwent what he has previously described as 'revolutionary' surgery in the summer. Cahill accepts that it was a gamble to have the procedure but believes he will now be able to enjoy a long career. The 28-year-old, who was left out of the side to face Bolton in midweek, is confident that he can go from strength to strength. "Basically I had surgery that is not in medical literature yet," Cahill said in the Daily Express. "The idea is to spread pressure that was on one toe across my whole foot. "Others probably would not have picked my route and it has taken a bit longer to recover. "But it will give me six more years, and my best is yet to come."
