Joseph Yobo and James Vaughan could return for Everton's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Nigerian defender had been a doubt for the clash after injuring his hamstring before the Portsmouth game on 21st March.
But the 28-year-old resumed training on Tuesday and could be thrust back into action by manager David Moyes.
"With Joseph back, hopefully we will have a little bit more to choose from," he said the Toffees boss.
"Joseph has got a chance of making the squad, he has done some training today."
Vaughan is also giving the Toffees boss a selection headache ahead of the Cup clash after recovering from cartilage surgery in November quicker than expected.
The 20-year-old was thought to be out for the rest of the season but featured for 68 minutes of the reserves' 0-0 draw with Sunderland last week.
Champing at the bit
"I think he has got a bit to go," Moyes told the Liverpool Echo when asked about Vaughan.
"Vaughany is champing at the bit to try and get involved. But he is short of practice and I've got to try and get some work into him.
"I want to try and get him ready as quick as I can. He is not quite where we want him. But his enthusiasm is great.
"That's why we get him back so quickly when we can.
"He forces us and pushes us so hard to get him back in the team. He is a brilliant lad and a brilliant player to have around.
"He always gets back from injury quicker than the time that is expected of him. We have to make sure that we don't let him come back too quickly now."
