Everton are reportedly locked in a battle with two other European clubs for the signature of Monaco striker Nene.
The Brazilian is the top scorer in Ligue 1 this season with 13 goals and has been watched by David Moyes' scouting team since November.
The Toffees are believed to be in pole position to capture the 28-year-old's signature, although the Merseyside club could tussle with Benfica and Galatasaray at the end of the season.
Monaco would receive a fee of around £9million for the sought-after front man, but a loan move could be agreed to ease the financial burden.
A move would not come easily, though, as Monaco's general manager Marc Keller said earlier this week the club would 'make efforts to keep him'.
Nene, who had spells at Mallorca, Alaves, Celta Vigo and Espanyol before his move to Monaco, admitted he would be interested in a switch and that a move to English football would 'fulfil a dream'.
He said: "My mission to play and to offer the maximum on the field.
"These things feature perfectly to me and I do not discard the exit if an important offer arrives. Monaco are open to studying the subject, say the directors.
"England? For me it is the best league in Europe next to Spain. It would be a chance to fulfil a dream for me."
