Everton youngster accepts chance of first-team football

Burnley have bolstered their defensive options by signing Everton teenager Shane Duffy on an initial month's loan. Duffy has agreed a temporary move to Turf Moor before Thursday's deadline and will hope to build up his first-team experience. The 19-year-old has made just two senior appearances during his Everton career, but has been on the bench on occasions this season. He has also recovered from a life-threatening injury picked up on international duty last May when he suffered a laceration to his liver which caused Duffy to lose two-thirds of his blood supply. The centre-half will link up with the Burnley squad next week when he returns from Republic of Ireland Under 21 duty and could make his debut against Ipswich Town on 2nd April.
