Everton boss David Moyes was full of praise as he watched his side continue their 100 per cent winning start to the new Premier League season.
First-half goals from Steven Pienaar, Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic demonstrated the visitors' superiority as they followed up their victory over Manchester United in emphatic style.
Karim El Ahmadi scored a consolation effort for 10-man Villa, but the Merseysiders proved a class apart and could have easily doubled their final tally but for poor finishing.
The Scot told Sky Sports: "The performance was excellent, it really was. It was right up there with a lot of the really good performances I've had at Everton.
"Great credit to the players, the confidence they've taken from the performance last week (against Manchester United) and they went out and showed it today."
Moyes was delighted with the display of Pienaar and was glad to have taken the South African back to Goodison Park from Tottenham in the summer.
"It was massive," admitted Moyes. "With the way he had played for us at the end of last season, he was key to a lot of the things we had done. The players enjoyed playing with him and his general play was excellent today."
