Andy Reid, Darron Gibson and Anthony Stokes have been welcomed back to the Republic of Ireland squad.

The trio fell out of favour during the reign of previous manager Giovanni Trapattoni, who departed earlier this month, and interim boss Noel King has recalled them for the matches against Germany and Kazakhstan.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Reid has been absent since an incident at the team hotel in September 2008, while Stokes failed to feature after a public fallout with Trapattoni, despite some fine displays in Celtic's forward line.

But Gibson's exile was self-imposed following Trapattoni's decision to leave him on the bench for the entire Euro 2012 tournament.

The Everton midfielder admitted earlier this month he would consider representing his country again following the end of the Italian's tenure.

Striker Kevin Doyle is also back in the squad, despite slipping into League One with Wolves, but there are no places for Trapattoni stalwarts Darren O'Dea, David Meyler, Simon Cox or Conor Sammon.

Defenders Richard Dunne and John O'Shea are suspended for the game in Cologne on October 11, but will return for the clash with the Kazakhs in Dublin four days later.

Squad: David Forde (Millwall), Keiren Westwood (Sunderland), Darren Randolph (Birmingham), Joey O'Brien (West Ham), Sean St Ledger (Leicester), Marc Wilson (Stoke), Seamus Coleman (Everton), Stephen Kelly (Reading), Ciaran Clark (Aston Villa), Paul McShane (Hull), Darron Gibson (Everton), Glenn Whelan (Stoke), James McCarthy (Everton), Paul Green (Leeds), Andy Reid (Nottingham Forest), Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow), Anthony Pilkington (Norwich), James McClean (Wigan), Stephen Quinn (Hull), Wes Hoolahan (Norwich), Shane Long (West Brom), Robbie Keane (Los Angeles Galaxy), Jon Walters (Stoke), Kevin Doyle (Wolves), Anthony Stokes (Celtic).
