Lukaku flicked on just before half-time for Kevin Mirallas to slot home and give Everton a 1-0 lead, before Diego Lugano's late header earned West Brom a point.
Victory at The Hawthorns would have lifted Everton into the UEFA Champions League places and Lukaku suggested it was two points dropped.
"We lost two points, you have to be realistic. In the first half we dominated but we didn't control the game as we should have done and we have to learn from it and do better in the next few games." Lukaku told Evertontv.
The Belgian striker scored 17 goals on loan at West Brom last season, but opted against a return to the Baggies last summer in favour of a switch to Everton.
He has scored nine goals for Everton and is determined to improve during his loan at Goodison Park before he returns to Chelsea at the end of the season.
Lukaku added: "I had a great time at West Brom and I hope they enjoyed my football and I left some good memories at the club.
"Now I am trying to do the same at Everton, but in a better way because I want to improve and become a better player year after year."
Meanwhile, Everton boss Roberto Martinez thinks that Gerard Deulofeu is making good progress from his current hamstring injury which has kept the Spaniard out since December 14th.
"Gerard is progressing really well. A member of our medical department went over to Barcelona to find out where he is (in terms of fitness)," Martinez said.
"We are happy with his progress and he is doing really well and I don't think it will be long before he is back. We reassess him every three days. Hopefully he will carry on with no setbacks."
