Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has told Sky Sports News HQ that he is ambitious and wants to play in the Champions League

Romelu Lukaku has reiterated his desire to play in the Champions League after joining super-agent Mino Raiola’s stable of players.

Raiola represents the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has said that the Everton striker should be playing alongside them in Europe’s premier club competition.

It is a viewpoint that Lukaku agrees with himself and, while he acknowledged he has a long-term contract at Everton, he will have put Toffees fans on alert by saying "you never know in football" when asked about his future.

Lukaku told Sky Sports News HQ: "That's the aim. Every player wants to play in the Champions League; every player wants to play at the highest level. You have to be ambitious in life.

"That's something that he (Raiola) has the right to say and I support him in that, otherwise we wouldn't be working together. He's my agent for something.

"At this moment, I am at Everton and have a four-year contract. I'm happy but you never know in football."

The Belgium striker moved to Goodison Park from Chelsea in a £28m deal following a successful loan spell but he endured a difficult campaign last time around, with the side failing to replicate their sparkling form in manager Roberto Martinez's first season in charge.

He has joined up with the Belgium squad as they prepare for a friendly with France on Sunday before travelling to Cardiff for a crucial European Qualifier against Wales on June 12, live on Sky Sports 5 HD.

Lukaku said he is in good shape preparing for another international round of fixtures. However, following speculation over fellow Belgian forward Christian Benteke's future at Aston Villa, and Divock Origi's imminent move to Liverpool, the 22-year-old said he is concentrating on himself.

"I'm in great shape right now; I'm training well and scoring a lot of goals," he said. "I'm doing my best and just trying to be better and try to measure myself with the best in the game and that is my aim for next season.

"I never try to look at someone else because then you put pressure on yourself and you try to force it. I just want to wake up in the morning, train, play and make the rest look at me instead of me looking at them."
