The 24-year-old Roma player has attracted the interest of Scottish Premier League giants Rangers and Premiership sides Bolton Wanderers and Birmingham City in recent weeks.
The Gers ended their interest in the African ace last week, claiming the player was out of their price range and that has allowed Redknapp to invite the player for a trial at Fratton Park.
"He hasn't played for a while, so I need to get him over and have a look at him for a couple of weeks," Redknapp told The News.
Lassissi has failed to make an appearance in his two years with the Stadio Olimpico club, having been in a pay dispute with them after picking up an injury.
Redknapp's plans for taking his side into The Premiership next season include a casting eye over four Wimbledon players.
Jobi McAnuff, Nigel Reo-Coker, Lionel Morgan and Damien Francis are all being closely monitored by the former West Ham manager.
Meanwhile, Pompey's Japanese international goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi has expressed his desire to stay in English football.
Kawaguchi has not appeared in the first team all season and has made little impact since his £1.8 million move in October 2001 from J-League side Yokohama F-Marinos, with Pompey telling the custodian he can move on next season.
However, Kawaguchi believes he can become the club's number one next term and is keen to make his time in England a success.
"My feelings haven't changed. I want to stay in England. My future is in England," Kawaguchi said.
