Bothroyd interest continues

By Nadia Carminati
Perugia striker Jay Bothroyd has continued to gain more interest from clubs in England following some fine performances with the Renato Curi club.

The former Arsenal trainee has impressed since joining the Serie A outfit in the summer, after being released by Coventry city at the end of last season.

His goals in the InterToto Cup, which took Perugia into the Uefa Cup this season, has lead to reported interest from Premiership sides Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough.

Bothroyd's exploits has also attracted the interest of Bolton Wanderers, though Perugia president Luciano Gaucci and manager Serse Cosmi seem intent on keeping their 21-year-old goalscorer at their club.

Italian giants Parma and Lazio have also been impressed with Bothroyd's displays and it remains to be seen if anything will occur when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Another Perugia player who looks to have attracted the interest of English clubs is midfielder Fabio Grosso.

Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers have all been linked with Grosso in Italy, though no confirmation has been made of his interest by the English clubs at this stage.
