Bernard Mendy admits his dream is to play in the 2006 World Cup with France.
The Paris Saint Germain defender was called into Jacques Santini's squad for the first time ahead of the prestige friendly with Brazil and was named the best right back in this season's Ligue 1.
However, the former Bolton man feels he has little chance of playing in Euro 2004.
"I knew I would get my chance with Les Bleus," he told L'Equipe.
"I thought it would be after the Euros but Jacques Santini sent me a note to call me for France versus Brazil.
"I have few chances to go to the Euros, my aim is for the 2006 World Cup."
Mendy explained his stay in England with Bolton helped curb his temper.
"Leaving for England helped calm me down," the 22-year-old stated. "Sometimes I did terrible tackles and the referee didn't blow.
"I was surprised and it helped me to understand the seriousness of the gesture."
