Hunt established himself as a firm fixture in Sam Allardyce's starting line-up last season and has been handed the fresh deal as a bonus for his progress.
The 20-year-old made the right back spot his own and also earned international honours with England's Under-21 side.
He is now committed to The Trotters until 2008 and had no hesitation in pledging his future to the North West outfit.
"It's good to get it out of the way and concentrate on preparing for next season," Hunt told the club's official website.
"I was more than happy to commit myself to my hometown club for the next four years."
Hunt has been joined in penning new terms by veteran goalkeeper Kevin Poole, who has inked the one-year contract which was offered to him.
