Candela set to play on

Vincent Candela's agent has played down talk suggesting he might retire.

Vincent Candela's agent has played down talk suggesting the Frenchman was considering retiring.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce had admitted he feared Candela may leave Bolton and hang up his boots altogether now his short-term deal at The Reebok Stadium has come to an end.

The full back joined Bolton from Roma during the January transfer window on a short-term deal and he has impressed during his time at the club.

The player's agent Alexander Kristic has ruled out the prospect of Candela retiring and revealed they are holding talks with Bolton over possibly extending his stay at the club.

"No I don't think Vincent will be retiring," Kristic told skysports.com

"Vincent is only 31-years-old and he can play on for at least one more year.

"We are planning to speak to Bolton and Sam Allardyce about Vincent and we will see what happens."

Kristic revealed that a number of clubs from England and Italy are monitoring Candela's situation and that the player is keen to play at a club where he can enjoy his football.

"There is interest in Vincent from clubs in England and he is still highly-regarded in Italy," added Kristic.

"I don't think Vincent has plans to return to France and he just wants to play where he can enjoy his football and play at the top level."
