Johan Radet rebuffed an approach from Bolton to stay at Auxerre.
Johan Radet rejected an offer from Bolton Wanderers in order to commit his future to Auxerre.
The full back was a free agent this summer and attracted interest from a number of English clubs but finally accepted a three-year proposal from AJA.
Bolton had contact with the Frenchman but new coach Jacques Santini helped convince Radet to prolong his stay at Auxerre.
"I go on here for sporting, family and financial reasons," he explained. "If the Englishmen really wanted me, it would have been settled straight away.
"The Jacques Santini statement was clear and decisive - he really relied on me.
"So I consider I have just settled a transfer, even if I don't change my club.
"There is a new coach and the training methods will be different."
Radet felt Bolton had stalled before following up their interest in his signature and this proved crucial.
Meanwhile, Auxerre are interested in Paris Saint Germain's Fabrice Pancrate.
Contact has been made with PSG officials in a bid to start discussing a é¼3 million deal.
