Villarreal defender Javi Venta has confirmed that Bolton tried to sign him.
Villarreal defender Javi Venta has admitted that he has received an offer to join Bolton Wanderers.
As previously reported, the right back was one of the players on the Bolton boss Sam Allardyce's list of targets.
The 29-year-old has confirmed he was attracted by the prospect of heading to The Reebok Stadium, but accepts his club's decision to rebuff the bid.
"Bolton presented me a good offer to be able to sign me," he told As.
"It seemed interesting to me and was put to Villarreal so they were able to decide what the best option was.
"They have not accepted it and, therefore, I stay here and I can say that the business with Bolton has passed."
After signing a new three-year contract, Venta is willing to fight for his place with the UEFA Champions League hopefuls, despite the arrival of Dutchman Jan Kromkamp.
The Yellow Submarines take a one-goal advantage into the second leg of their Champions League qualifier with Everton.
