Wigan track Trotters trialist

Wigan are reportedly set to rival Bolton for the signature of Lamine Sakho.

Wigan are reportedly set to rival Bolton for the signature of St Etienne forward Lamine Sakho.

Skysports.com revealed on Wednesday that the former Leeds loan star was undergoing a trial with The Trotters, and reports in France now indicate that Premiership rivals Wigan have registered an interest.

Sakho is considered disposable by ASSE coach Elie Baup despite being in possession of a two-and-a-half year contract, and as such is currently trying his luck at The Reebok Stadium.

However Latics boss Paul Jewell is keen to bring in replacements during the January transfer window, and, with Henri Camara set to participate in the African Cup of Nations, Sakho is reputedly a candidate to provide attacking back-up.

Meanwhile Baup is looking to increase his own options due to Africa's showcase tournament, with reports suggesting that he could be close to sealing a loan move for former Tottenham star Helder Postiga.

The Porto forward has been strongly linked with a move to Real Betis in recent weeks, but, after contact with Lille in the summer, it seems he may yet end up in Le Championnat.

St Etienne have also targeted FC Schaffhouse star Mounir Soufiani as a potential loan recruit for the winter.

The full-back is a Moroccan Under-21 international and has been linked with a temporary move to France until the end of the current season.
