Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen hopes to stay at The Reebok Stadium for the long term despite not yet agreeing a new contract.
The Finn's future is in serious doubt after talks stalled regarding extending the 30-year-old's contract beyond the 12 months it has left to run.
And Trotters boss Sam Allardyce is rumoured now to be mulling over whether or not to sell the Finn and boost his transfer coffers for next season.
The likes of Arsenal and Middlesbrough could be in the running should The Trotters give the green light to a sale but Jaaskelainen revealed he would be keen to remain with the European hopefuls.
"The ideal situation is I sign an extension here," said Jaaskelainen.
"Hopefully I can stay - but you never know what is going to happen in football."
