Bolton Wanderers are being strongly linked with a summer move for United States international Steven Cherundolo.
Reports in Germany are stating that The Trotters posted scouts at a couple of internationals featuring the States recently, with Cherundolo believed to be the object of desire.
The 27-year-old right back featured in the 1-0 win over Poland and defeat by Germany and reportedly impressed the watching Bolton scouts.
Cherundolo is tied to Hannover until the summer of 2008, but has made no secret of his desire to seal a move to England and has a clause in his contract which allows him to move to any Premier League club for a guaranteed opting-out fee of é¼2 million unless the club qualifies for Europe.
Cherundolo has refused to comment directly on the reported interest from Bolton, but suggested that his situation should be clarified before the end of the season.
"The whole matter will be decided within the next three to four weeks as I want to have things settled before the World Cup," Cherundolo told Kicker.
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce is no stranger to raiding the European scene and would appear to be in the market for a defender, having used striker Henrik Pedersen as a makeshift full back on occasions this season.
