Ben Haim looking to Europe

Tal Ben Haim still believes Bolton can finish in the top six for the second year running.

Bolton Wanderers defender Tal Ben Haim still believes the club can claim a European spot in the Premiership for the second year running.

Wanderers played their first ever European game against Lokomotiv Plovdiv this season and Ben Haim says that everyone at the club would be very disappointed not to qualify again this year.

Bolton's hopes of a UEFA Champions League spot were dented by the 4-3 defeat against Middlesbrough on Sunday but the Israeli is still confident of a top six finish.

"Last year we made history for the club by finishing in a European place," Ben Haim told Sky Sports News.

"This season it is going to be harder but we still have a fantastic chance.

"I think the lads will be very disappointed if we don't qualify for Europe again this season because we deserve it."

Ben Haim could be joined at The Reebok Stadium by compatriot Idan Tal in the summer, a signing that the defender believes would be a major addition for the club.

"He plays in central midfield and is very comfortable on the ball, has a good shot and good energy," added Ben Haim.

"He gives his heart to the game and I'm sure Bolton will be more than happy with him."

Israel have been drawn in England's group for the 2008 European Championship qualifiers and Ben Haim is looking forward to doing battle with some of England's finest.

But before then, Ben Haim will be cheering on England during the World Cup finals in Germany later this year.

"Me and my family will definitely be England fans in the World Cup and hopefully England will take the World Cup," said Ben Haim.

"England are one of the best teams in the world so of course it'll be a fantastic atmosphere in Israel."
