Jobi's staying at Palace

Peter Taylor has rubbished reports that suggest Jobi McAnuff could be on his way.

Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor has rubbished reports that have suggested Jobi McAnuff could be heading for The Premiership.

The exciting wide man enjoyed a fine campaign last season and a consistently high level of performance did not go unnoticed in the top flight.

McAnuff is reportedly on the wish-list of Premiership new boys Watford, while Wigan and Bolton continue to monitor his situation closely.

However, Taylor is convinced he will be able to keep his player at Selhurst Park, reticent to allow any of his top performers to seek pastures new following the sales of Andy Johnson and Fitz Hall in the summer.

''Yes, definitely,'' replied Taylor, when questioned on whether McAnuff would stay at Palace.

''Jobi is not a problem. He is a terrific professional and he is getting on with it.

''Jobi is absolutely fine, as anyone who saw him play on Wednesday would have recognised.''

While Taylor feels he can keep Jobi in the capital, he has all but conceded defeat in his attempt to retain Emmerson Boyce, who looks to be heading to Wigan.

It looks as though a deal will be pushed through on Monday, with the full back linking up with former team-mate Hall, in a new look Wigan backline.

It seems likely that Monday could prove to be a busy day at Wigan, as Latics boss Paul Jewell is also set for showdown talks with want-away defender Pascal Chimbonda.
