Nicolas Anelka says he never doubted his ability to score in the Premiership.
Nicolas Anelka says he never doubted his ability to score after notching-up his first two goals of the season in the Premiership on Saturday.
Anelka scored for the first time since he joined Bolton in August as they beat his former club Arsenal 3-1, ending a 10-match barren spell for the Frenchman.
He told L'Equipe: "I have already scored a lot of goals in the English league and I never doubted there would be other ones.
"The season is still long and it will be very difficult to finish among the top four."
Team-mate El Hadji Diouf has shown his faith in Anelka by saying he is sure that the 27-year-old French international will hit the back of the net again when they meet high flying Chelsea at the Reebok Stadium on Wednesday night.
"I told the press: Nico would score against Arsenal or Chelsea because they are teams that play football," Diouf said.
"So he scored against Arsenal and now I state that he will score against Chelsea too.
"I am happy for Nico. In a way we are similar, we both have a reputation for being bad boys but we are really nice."
