Bhoys agree Doumbe deal

Skysports.com can reveal Celtic have agreed a deal to sign Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe.

Skysports.com can reveal Celtic have agreed a deal to sign Cameroon defender Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe.

Doumbe has agreed a six-month deal with the option of a further two years after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

The full-back enjoyed a trial at Parkhead earlier this month as he looked to find a move away from Rennes.

Bolton also had the powerful defender on trial last week as they considered a move for him, but Celtic have won the race for his signature.

The player's agent Willie McKay confirmed Doumbe cannot wait to get his Celtic career up and running.

"Doumbe has signed a six-month deal with the option for a further two years," McKay told skysports.com.

"He enjoyed his trial here earlier in the month and he impressed Gordon Strachan.

"He is looking forward to the opportunity of playing for Celtic and he cannot wait to get started.

"He was not playing at Rennes because of injury, but now he is back and raring to go.

"He has played in two World Cups and he can play anywhere across the back.

"He is looking forward to playing in Scotland and in the Champions League."

Meanwhile, Porto are believed to have made an offer for Rennes midfielder Jimmy Briand.

Briand is keen for more first-team opportunities after struggling for chances at the Stade de la Route-de-Lorient.
