Jaaskelainen out for rest of the season

Bolton have suffered a huge blow with the news that Jussi Jaaskelainen has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The 32-year-old Finn has missed Bolton's last two games with a back injury and they must now fight relegation without their star keeper. Bolton boss Gary Megson, speaking after Sunday's loss to Wigan, confirmed that Jaaskelainen needs surgery.

Surgery

"He needs six weeks of rest to try and resolve his problem, and he is also going to need some form of surgery," said Megson. "Either way, his season is over." Fortunately, Bolton have an adequate stand-in with Ali Al-Habsi now set to finish the season in goal for Megson. The news that Jaaskelainen may not play again this season means he may well have played his last game for The Trotters. Jaaskelainen is out-of-contract at the end of the current campaign and a host of clubs from England and across Europe are ready to offers terms in a bid to prise him away from The Reebok Stadium.
