Injury-plagued midfielder battles to regain full fitness

Skysports.com understands Sean Davis has returned to light training for Bolton after missing two years with a knee injury. The 31-year-old signed for the Trotters in the summer of 2009 on a free transfer from Portsmouth, but made only three appearances before a cruciate knee injury ruled him out of that whole term. Davis then suffered a further setback in pre-season last year which required further surgery, which meant he was again forced to sit out another campaign. Manager Owen Coyle has been on record praising the character of the midfielder, who has again battled back from the double blow. Davis and the club medics have not put a date on when he will be fully fit and he will be closely monitored to avoid any recurrence of the injury. However, the opportunity to select Davis would be like having a new signing for Coyle who, when at his best, is an industrious midfielder with an eye for goal.
