Trotters skipper setting his sights on City

Kevin Davies is hoping to shake off a slight knock in time to figure in Bolton's clash with North West rivals Manchester City on Saturday. The Trotters will make the short journey to the Etihad Stadium looking to pull off a shock against the Premier League leaders. Owen Coyle's men will also be looking to snap out of a three-match losing run this weekend, with their ongoing troubles leaving them inside the Premier League drop zone. Their cause could be boosted by the return to fitness of club captain Davies. The experienced frontman suffered a knee injury during Bolton's 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Wigan, with the problem having kept him sidelined for the past fortnight. He is, however, optimistic regarding his chances of making the trip to City and hopes he will be welcomed back into Coyle's plans after a recent spell out of favour. "I haven't been injured for a while but it isn't a major one," Davies told the Bolton News. "Hopefully I'll be back for City next weekend. "It happened when I jumped early in the Wigan game and landed awkwardly. I have been running since so it should be okay now."

Mood

Few will give Bolton much hope of taking anything from City, but Davies knows they must start picking up points on a regular basis if they are to drag themselves clear of trouble. He added: "The mood around the place is still great. When we have been in trouble before, that has been what has got us out. "It's looking like three from five in the Premier League at the moment, so we need to start making sure we pick up points. "We'll have to work hard, we know that, and then hopefully that will be enough to turn it round."
