Bolton Wanderers defender David Wheater believes his team have the easiest run-in out of the sides battling for Premier League survival.

Wheater played in last week's 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers, a result which saw his side climb to a position of safety.

The former England Under 21 international is optimistic about his club's remaining games, but is not taking anything for granted.

He told The Bolton News: "We've looked at the fixtures and I think we have got the easiest run-in. They're not easy games, of course, but compared to everyone else they look okay.

"Wigan and QPR have got to play the top five but it's down to us at the end of it. If we pick up the points and play confidently then we will be fine."

Quality

The towering defender has faith in the quality of his team and believes they are playing with confidence.

The 25 year-old said: "Confidence hasn't been a problem, you can see that lads' heads haven't dropped, and I think that's because we honestly believe we shouldn't be where we are.

"We have some quality players in this team - Martin Petrov and Ryo Miyaichi both did great on the wings and we've just got to keep that going now."

Wheater has forged a strong partnership with January addition Tim Ream, and says the USA international has settled in well and looks comfortable at the back.

He continued: "I think me and Tim complement each other well. It's good having a right-footer and a left-footer. He has come here and done great, but then when he trained with us before, we knew what a great player he was."
