Royals boss Alan Pardew moved for the 24-year-old in a bid to avoid a defensive crisis at The Madejski Stadium.
Roget has found himself out-of-favour at Edgeley Park recently and he been told by Hatters boss Carlton Palmer he is surplus to requirements.
The former Southend United ace was signed in time to make his debut in Thursday's game with Swindon and he impressed in the goalless draw.
Pardew is delighted to have signed Roget and should he impress during his spell at The Berkshire club he could make the move permanent.
"Leo has played 22 games in the First Division this season, and this is a good opportunity for him because he's been put to one side at Stockport," Pardew told the club's official website.
"I like players who are hungry, and he's got an aggressive character which I look for in centre-halves."
