Finnish striker Shefki Kuqi gave the visitors a surprise lead after just nine minutes, but Nathan Blake drew the sides level on the hour mark.
Kuqi restored Wednesday's lead just two minutes later with his second, but Dean Sturridge's 70th minute strike earned the home side a point.
Sheffield United piled the misery on Millwall with a 3-1 victory over The Lions at Bramall Lane.
Carl Asaba broke the deadlock for the home side on 77 minutes and Michael Tonge doubled the lead five minutes later.
Paul Ifill gave the visitors hope pulling a goal back a minute from time, but Peter Ndlovu made sure of the win for The Blades with the third and final goal in stoppage time.
Reading recorded their second win of the season with a convincing 3-0 win over bottom side Burnely at Madejski Stadium to pile the pressure on Stan Ternent.
Jamie Cureton grabbed the first goal of the game after 55 minutes to give the home side the lead and Martin Butler doubled the lead three minutes from time.
Cureton hit his second to wrap up the 3-0 win in the final minute to leave Burnley still rooted to the bottom of the table and looking for their first point of the season.
In the other First Division game on the night Crystal Palace and Leicester City fought out a goalless draw at Selhurst Park.
The visitors were forced to hang on for a point in the last five minutes after Gerry Taggart was sent-off for violent conduct.
