Rangers boss Ian Holloway is thought to be a big admirer of Cureton having had him under his wing during his time in charge of Bristol Rovers and sees the striker as a key addition to his squad for next season.
Cureton has hinted that he could leave The Royals in the summer when his contract expires as he has just been offered a one-year extension.
The 27-year-old, who failed to hold down a regular place in Alan Pardew's side last term, revealed he talked with Holloway but not about a move to Loftus Road.
"I have spoken to Ian Holloway recently, just to wish them luck in the play-off final last weekend, but I've not been offered anything by them," Cureton told the club's official website.
"Obviously I know their manager very well and we get on well, but they haven't offered me a contract."
