Henderson has struggled to secure regular first-team football with The Royals and has primarily been deployed as a substitute at The Madejski Stadium.
The 21-year-old scored four goals last season and the recent arrival of Shaun Goater will limit his chances in the coming months.
Royals boss Alan Pardew is eager for Henderson to accrue experience and Second Division Brentford are lining up a move.
"He needs some experience and he may go out on loan this week," said Pardew. "He can play in Division Two, no problem."
Meanwhile, former Royals goalkeeper Phil Whitehead has signed for ambitious Conference newcomers Tamworth.
Whitehead was released by Pardew at the end of last season and has signed a one-year deal to become player-coach at Tamworth while Second Division side Bournemouth have hired him as a part-time goalkeeping coach.
