Reading have agreed to let the tenacious 21-year-old remain at Underhill but Barnet boss Martin Allen admits he was uncertain he would retain the youngster's services with the change of management at the Madejski Stadium.
Allen told the club's official website: "For the past two weeks, with the change of management at Reading, I have been worried that we might not be able to keep Joe beyond the initial three-month loan period.
"He was cleared to play in our FA Cup match on October 25 but now any fear that he might be recalled after that has been dispelled."
In other news, Allen has acted swiftly to replace goalkeeper David Forde by snapping up Wimbledon's Shane Gore.
West Ham United recalled Forde earlier this week, forcing Allen to secure the services of Gore until the end of the season on loan as well.
Gore, who was on loan at Peterborough United earlier this term, was on the bench for all 46 of The Dons' First Division matches last season as cover to ever-present Kelvin Davis.
The shot-stopper has been with Wimbledon since the age of 13 and his solitary senior appearance came as a substitute in the 2001-2002 season.
