Robbie Blake, Richard Chaplow and Luke Chadwick were all on target as Burnley earned a surprise win over Reading at Turf Moor.
Blake set The Clarets on their way to a first win in nine matches when he opened the scoring with a fortuitous strike after just four minutes.
Reading failed to clear a corner by the Burnley striker and when the ball returned to him wide on the left he swung in a cross which evaded everybody, including Royals keeper Marcus Hahnemann.
Reading responded well and should have been level by the break, but when Nicky Forster set up John Salako in the box the former England winger fired a close range shot straight at Brian Jensen.
Burnley added a crucial second a minute after the break when Hahnemann blocked an Ian Moore shot, the ball rebounding kindly to Chaplow who lifted a delightful shot over the stranded keeper from the edge of the area.
Substitute Chadwick, returning after a toe injury, then made sure of the points with a free-kick from outside the area which was deflected past Hahnemann.
