Nick Chadwick scored a last minute winner to give Plymouth a 2-1 win over Reading.Nick Chadwick scored a last minute winner to deny Leroy Lita the headlines as Plymouth left Reading with an impressive 2-1 win on the opening day of the Championship season.
The West Country visitors saw Micky Evans's first half strike cancelled out by Royals new man Lita on 54 as he grabbed his first goal since his £1 million move from Bristol City.
However, former Everton man Chadwick ensured that Steve Coppell's side ended up empty handed as he netted in stoppage time.
Plymouth started the brighter as Paul Wotton went close before Evans converted a cross from debutant full back Rufus Brevett on 21 minutes.
Bobby Williamson's side then endured sustained pressure as The Royals' new strike-force of Kevin Doyle and Lita were handed a series of chances.
After Doyle headed over from close range it was down to England Under-21 star Lita to bring things level as he headed home from a Graeme Murty cross.
As Reading went all out for the victory by throwing on unfit striker Dave Kitson they were painfully undone at the death.
Plymouth playmaker Akos Buzsaky was the creator as he swung in a free kick but the credit was due to Chadwick as he showed a goalscorer's touch to take the three points.
