Skysports.com revealed last week that Columbus Crew youngster Szetela was coming to England for a trial during the off-season in the MLS.
It had been thought his stint with the Championship table-toppers would have to be delayed due to illness.
But The Royals have stated that the teenage midfielder will be at the club from Wednesday after acknowledging a long-term interest in Szetela.
"Danny is a talented young midfielder who I have been aware of for a while, and we are grateful to Major League Soccer for allowing him to train with us during the American off-season," Reading's director of football Nicky Hammond told the club's official website.
During his time in England, Szetela is also tipped to train with Fulham after previously being wanted by Premiership rivals Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old keeper Young has returned to Reading after spending the first half of the season on loan at Rushden & Diamonds.
Young had been first choice with the League Two strugglers, but it has been agreed that his career will be best served by a return to The Madejski Stadium.
