Liam Ridgewell wants Aston Villa to avoid recording their worst Premiership season.
Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell is desperate for the Midlands club to avoid recording their worst Premiership season.
Villa are six points short of their previous season low of 45 points that was amassed under former manager Graham Taylor in season 2002/03.
The current Villa side need to make the most of their final three games in order to avoid setting an unwanted milestone.
David O'Leary's side came back down to earth after their derby win over Birmingham City with a 3-2 defeat at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday evening, but Ridgewell is determined that Villa finish the season in strong fashion.
"We don't want to be the worst (Villa Premiership) team," Ridgewell said.
"I don't want that tag."
Meanwhile, fresh reports are suggesting that Villa will aim to make a move for Wolves defender Joleon Lescott.
O'Leary has refused to comment on recent links with the 23-year-old, with Premiership-bound Reading another suitor of the defender.
